Off-hand grinding

Off-hand grinding signifies the guiding of the abrasive tool on the workpiece by hand or by means of a hand-operated machine. Despite the state-of-the-art technology available today, pure hand-off grinding, i.e. non-machine-assisted grinding, is still indispensable for some applications.

General

Off-hand grinding signifies the guiding of the abrasive tool on the workpiece by hand or by means of a hand-operated machine. Despite the state-of-the-art technology available today, pure hand-off grinding, i.e. non-machine-assisted grinding, is still indispensable for some applications.

A hand block is a useful aid to both increase the contact pressure and enlarge the processed surface. Other hand-guided tools for fine grinding are sanding sponges, sanding blocks and non-woven webs. The packing of the abrasives used for off-hand grinding varies with the respective application. Off-hand grinding abrasives are available as rolled products, sheet products and individual sheets. Since flexibility is of greater importance than tear resistance in off-hand grinding applications, the backings of off-hand grinding abrasives are predominantly made of paper and cotton.

The all-rounder

Coarse or fine grinding or surface finishing, level or profiled workpieces or complex contours – you name the application, and Klingspor will provide the perfect product to execute it. The selection depends on the customer’s specific requirements and the material to be processed. Wood, metal, paint, varnish, filler or plastic can be processed with utmost efficiency. Better still, the products engineered by Klingspor are either washable or reusable (sanding sponges, sanding blocks and non-woven webs) or especially long-lasting thanks to minimised clogging (abrasive papers with open coating and non-woven webs), satisfying every standard in terms of economy and environmental protection.
